Every vehicle that comes in will be charged a minimum of a half hour diagnostic labor for each symptom. There are four different levels that determine how much labor is charged.
Initial testing/inspection of issue. The following are examples of charges that may require a level one diagnostic charge:
Noise complaints (belt squeak, clunking, etc).
Test charging/starting systems
Testing cooling system (radiator, water pump, etc.)
Brake inspections (pulsation, noise, etc.)
Suspension inspections (most vehicles)
Leak complaints (unless degrease is needed)
Initial testing/inspection of drivability concerns. The following are examples of charges that may require a level two diagnostic charge:
Check Engine Light
Engine performance issues (misfires, surging, hesitation, etc.)
Transmission issues (whining, issues shifting, etc.)
Other warning messages (ABS, airbag, etc.)
Initial testing of electrical issues
Advanced testing of level one examples
Initial testing/inspection of other concerns. The following are examples of charges that may require a level three diagnostic charge:
A/C diagnostics (includes refrigerant for most vehicles.)
Emissions/Evap diagnostics (smoke testing, leak detection, etc.)
Leak inspections that require engine degrease
Advanced drivability and electrical diagnostics. Includes advanced pinpoint testing of problem area or tracing wiring issues on electrical systems. Also includes issues that may occur intermittently.
Includes initial testing and advanced testing of issue. For in depth testing of issues not covered under initial two hours. Also includes multiple system diagnostics.
